Eva Maria Stadler is a curator and introduces CDS students to current developments in her field with the First Semester course Introduction Regarding Programme Topics: Art. She is professor of art and knowledge transfer at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna and a curator of contemporary art. She has taught at the universities of Fine Arts in Vienna and Munich, Germany, and at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart, Germany. From 2012 to 2013 she was Director of Galerie der Stadt Schwaz, Austria. From 1994 to 2005 she was Director of the Grazer Kunstverein, and from 2006 to 2007 she worked as curator-in-residence at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. From 2007 to 2011 she was curator of contemporary art at the Museum Belvedere in Vienna. Eva Maria Stadler has curated numerous exhibitions including Kindheit, Emanzipation und Kritik, Villa Stuck Munich; Tanzimat, Form und Grund: Monika Baer, Thomas Eggerer, Amelie von Wulffen, Empfindung oder in der Nähe der Fehler liegen die Wirkungen. Belvedere Museum, Augarten Contemporary, Vienna. At the University of Applied Arts in Vienna she heads the Art and Society institute. She was the head of the working group, which developed Cross-Disciplinary Strategies, and is now head of the CDS study programme’s board. Central topics in her teaching programme are freedom and liberty, abstraction, and participation. She is currently working on the book Abstraction and Economy.
